The XP Trike was already the best-selling electric trike in the U.S.—and the new version promises even more without raising the price, offering optional upgrades for both motor power and battery capacity.

Three-wheeled riders, rejoice: the Lectric XP Trike 2 has officially arrived. The original XP Trike topped U.S. sales charts thanks to its unmatched value, filling a major gap in the market for riders who needed the stability of three wheels without the typical price tag of over $2,000.

At just $1,499, Lectric delivered a capable, comfortable, and highly accessible trike. And now, the company has done what it does best: rolled out meaningful upgrades while keeping the base price the same. More bang, same buck.

The XP Trike 2 adds improvements to ergonomics, comfort, and ride confidence, and it offers optional motor and battery upgrades for those willing to wait a bit longer (upgraded models begin shipping in September).

What Made the XP Trike So Popular

Demand for electric trikes has always existed, but it’s a smaller and less competitive space than the two-wheeled e-bike market. Many riders—particularly older adults, those with balance or mobility limitations, or anyone seeking extra stability and cargo-carrying capacity—appreciate what trikes offer.

Lectric seized the moment, launching the XP Trike at $1,499 while many competitors were priced closer to $2,500. That 40% discount turned heads, but the value went beyond price.

Lectric may not have developed the trike’s motor concept, but they no doubt popularized it. Where some trike makers placed hub motors in the front wheel—altering handling and risking spinout—Lectric mounted its 500W hub motor centrally between the rear wheels. That design choice improved traction and overall ride dynamics, especially when climbing hills or accelerating from a stop.

The rest of the specs and features were impressive. The original XP Trike also featured:

  • A 13Ah battery offering solid range
  • Easy step-thru frame with a low 14” standover height
  • Foldable design that could fit in trucks or vans (plus, it shipped mostly assembled)
  • Hydraulic brakes for smoother, more manageable stops
  • A “Beginner Mode” to reduce speeds and ease the learning curve for new trike riders

New Features Coming to the XP Trike 2

There’s a slew of new things coming to the XP Trike 2. Notably, the frame is being redesigned in its appearance, including the tubing itself, and is now available in six(!) color options.

The stem angle is improved for an even more relaxed riding posture, and suspension is being added with the upgrade from a rigid fork to a 50mm travel fork.

The display is now a crisp 3.5” color option meaning they’re ditching the black and white display days, and you get better safety and visibility in the form of further improved Lectric custom hydraulic brakes (made by Star Union, and currently our record holders on the XP 4’s brake test), and now the trike has brake lights and turn signals.

The raw output of the motor is similar at 500W of nominal power and a 1,092 peak (plus 65Nm of torque), but it’s now using Lectric’s M24 stealth technology for an even quieter ride.

Following the playbook they used with the XP 4.0, Lectric is offering a more powerful version of the XP Trike 2.

  • 750W motor with 85Nm of torque
  • Torque sensor upgrade (replacing the cadence sensor) with Lectric’s hybrid tuning for a natural but easy pedaling feel
  • Higher-capacity 17.5 Ah battery
  • An optional 5A charger that can reduce charge time by up to 60%

Standard XP Trike 2 units are shipping now, with estimated delivery in just a few weeks.

Electric Bike Report’s Take

Lectric Debuts The New XP Trike 2

A new Lectric release is always a big deal. The Phoenix-based brand has scored hit after hit and has become the undisputed value leader in e-bikes and trikes, with nearly half a million riders and counting.

The original XP Trike was already the top-selling delta trike in the U.S., and the XP Trike 2 improves on it in almost every way. It’s more refined, more comfortable, and better-looking, thanks to its fresh frame design and new color options. The addition of upgraded motor and battery options will only widen its appeal.

We expect to see XP Trike 2s popping up in neighborhoods across the country soon. And we’ve got one headed our way for testing, so stay tuned for our full review.
